President Bush Finally Makes Positive Stride in Child Health Care

On, Saturday, December 29, 2007, President Bush finally took baby steps (no pun intended) towards temporarily extending the much needed State Children's Health Insurance Program. The program will provide states with enough money to cover enrolled patients through March 2009. The program is designed to benefit children and families who make too much for Medicaid; yet, not enough to obtain private insurance. The current legislation will cover approximately 6 million people -- most of them being children. Mr. Bush vetoed two earlier bills because he felt that they were too expensive (we won't discuss where he has already wasted billions of dollars that could have supported this program), and that they would place more children into government run health programs. Who cares as long as these children are getting the proper medical care?

The Democrats are pushing to include another 4 million individuals. Will they have to wait until the 2008 elections are over? What about those who are currently paying up the wazoo for inadequate private health insurance? We'll keep you posted.
